About Task Panes

Task Panes layout

New in Expression Web are several Task Panes, which can be turned on/off via the Task Panes menu.

On the Task Panes menu, the task panes are organized into groups. When you first open a task pane, it will appear stacked together with the other task panes in the group. (See diagram below.) You can click on the tab in the group to select the task pane, and use the arrows to scroll through multiple task panes.

To open a task pane

Select the task pane from the Task Panes menu.

To move and dock a task pane

Click on the tab (or on the title bar) and drag to move the task pane. You can move it to the top, left, right, or bottom sides of the Expression Web interface and the task pane will "dock."

To move a task pane into a different group

Click on the tab (or on the title bar) of the task pane and drag and drop it into an existing task pane group.

To move a task pane and have it float independently

Click on the tab (or on the title bar) of the task pane. Drag it away from the sides of the interface and it will form its own floating panel.

To close a task pane

If the task pane is by itself, click on the close button (X). If the task pane is grouped with other task panes, first select the task pane by clicking on the tab, then click on the X button that is next to the tabs.

To maximize a task pane

Click the maximize button (looks like a square) to make the task pane take up all available space in the docked region. This will collapse the other task panes in that region to just show their title bars.

To reset all task panes to default layout

Go to Task Panes > Reset Workspace Layout.
