12 Days of Microsoft Teams | Day 9

Bots, Bots, and More Bots!

Welcome to Day 9 of PixelMill’s ‘12 Days of Microsoft Teams’ series! If you ever wanted an assistant but didn’t want to deal with people, today’s tip reminds you to look right in your own communication portal. Enjoy!

Bots have been a hot topic this year, and if you’re not familiar with them, Microsoft Teams is a great way to truly see their benefits in action. So what are bots? A Bot, sometimes referred to as a ‘chatbot’, is an application that performs automated tasks, designed to simulate human conversation. Bots allow users to interact with and get information from cloud services like task management, scheduling, and polling, through chat conversations in Microsoft Teams.
How to spot a bot in Teams?
A bot has a hexagonal avatar icon, unlike your other human team members’ circular avatars. You can interact with bots in both channel Conversations and personal Conversations. See have a conversation with a Microsoft Teams bot for more information.
There are quite a few bots out there, and more coming every day. Here are five that caught our eye and keep us coming back for more:
Polly Wants A …. | Polls made easy
Having trouble deciding what color to paint the new break room? Polly to the rescue. Polly makes polling a breeze, with live responses to surveys and voting stats, all within Microsoft Teams. Polly offers real-time analytics so you can stay up-to-date easily. Polly offers both a free version and a paid version. https://www.polly.ai/guides/benefits-polly-paid-plan#why-switch-to-polly-on-a-paid-plan

T-Bot
Much like the clippy from back in the day, T-Bot offers general Teams Help & Support. If you don’t know how to use Teams, just ask T-Bot. Ask a question or type a keyword to T-Bot and it will find your answer. Go to Chat, then select T-Bot, type your question, and hit enter. It’s that simple.

Whobot
Search for anyone in your organization using Whobot. Powered by the Microsoft Graph, WhoBot allows you to search for people in your organization by name or topic. To access your personal apps space, click the … in the left navigation menu.

Growbot
Finding ways to celebrate your company culture in the digital world is a challenge. Growbot makes it easy! Recognize and reward your employees in real time, and share company values and team stats. Try it free with a 30-day trial.

Hipmunk
If your organization has travel planning needs, Hipmunk could be a lifesaver. Hipmunk from Concur compares top travel sites to show the perfect flight or hotel at the lowest price. Their comprehensive travel search includes commercial flights, trains, and charter flights to hotels and vacation rentals through Airbnb.

What? Anchor links now work in #SharePoint site navigation! This fix snuck in and I completely missed it. Use them to create a TOC for long pages or cross link between pages. They work in text or quick links web parts & nav too! https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-and-use-modern-pages-on-a-sharepoint-site-b3d46deb-27a6-4b1e-87b8-df851e503dec#bkmk_pageanchors
