Global Tire Manufacturer
As one of the world’s leading global tire manufacturers, our client required a personalized intranet to keep their 30,000 users informed, connected, and productive at work and on the go.

The Project
Our client required an energizing and engaging Office 365 intranet that holistically enhanced communication with its global associates. The client requested a personalized user experience that would surface relevant information for their global users, keeping them informed both globally and regionally. With these requirements in mind, we were asked to increase the functionality, accessibility, consistency, and efficiency of their intranet.

Our Approach
Discover + Define
Personalization was key. We began our five-stage approach by analyzing the users’ pain points and needs and created a strategy to deliver a personalized global site that reflected the client’s unique culture and brand.
- Current site analysis
- Stakeholder interviews and user needs assessment
- Define and document Business Requirements
- Define and document the Functional Requirements
Innovate + Design
We redesigned the intranet so it was more inline with the client’s current branding guidelines bringing their company culture to their new digital workspace. The design style was heavily influenced by card style patterns, bold typography, and a cohesive color palette. We also incorporated personalized features such as My News, My People, My Events, Yammer, and Shortcuts to make the organizations’ global homepage more engaging and collaborative for their employees.
- Wireframes
- Mood board
- Responsive designs for desktop, tablet, mobile
- UI/UX prototype
- Style guide
Develop + Refine
To address the global needs of our client’s team, we created a multi-language site so users from different regions could access the portal in their preferred language. We used list-based language snippets along with SharePoint language variation subsites for smoother user experience. We created regional pages for new items as well as region subscriptions via a custom O365 user property so that users could subscribe to news from their own region and see it quickly in a homepage roll-up. We also used Office Graph API to pull in calendar and coworker information for a personalized portal experience.
We integrated Yammer into the portal since our client’s associates were already heavy users of it. This allowed users to like and comment on news articles in a way that they were familiar with using.
Finally, by using a custom form hooked into a SharePoint list, we provided an easy way for all users to suggest news stories to corporate communications.
