The Future is Here: SPFx is Generally Available
Back in November, first release tenants began to see the first heart beats of the SharePoint Framework (SPFx). In January, Release Candidate 0 was announced, but the grand announcement we have been waiting for is finally here. Yesterday Microsoft officially announced the release of the SPFx to general availability.
SharePoint Framework Overview
If you have been waiting to explore the new SPFx, your time is up. With its release to general availability the time is here to dig into the new possibilities it brings to Office 365. A couple months ago we gave a brief introduction to the SPFx, and we thought it would be best to give a quick recap.
What You Need to Know About SPFx:
Introduces the Client Side Rendering (CSR) Model
The SPFx presents a new Client Side Rendering (CSR) Model to SharePoint, allowing for Developers to quickly and directly insert their solutions into SharePoint. This ability opens new doors to utilize modern branding techniques in SharePoint. To put it simply, it de-couples the frontend and backend of SharePoint. You can read more about this at our Co-Founders recent blog post.
Let’s Get Started!
The future of SharePoint lies in intuitive and easy-to-use interfaces. The release of SPFx to general availability finally allows us to leverage this new style of coding and enhance the end user experience. So, if you are new to the SPFx, start with the basics; learn more about TypeScript and slowly engulf yourself in it. Start small, but think big because the possibilities are…ENDLESS.
The future of SharePoint is finally here. Happy innovating, folks.
