SharePoint 2010: Hide the Status Bar for Anonymous Users

Back in January I wrote an article on how to hide the Status bar for all users using css. What if you just want to hide the status bar not matter it’s content, but only for anonymous users? No problem, the fix is easier that using css.

All you have to do is use the trusty

<<span class="purple">SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl</span>>

Open you masterpage and look for the following code:

3
<div id="s4-statusbarcontainer">
    <div id="pageStatusBar"></div>
</div>

Add the

<<span class="purple">SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl</span>>

tag:

5
<<span class="purple">SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl</span> <span class="red">ID</span>="SPSecurityTrimmedControlStatus" <span class="red">runat</span>="server" <span class="red">PermissionsString</span>="ManageSubwebs">
    <div id="s4-statusbarcontainer">

</<span class="purple">SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl</span>>

What? Anchor links now work in #SharePoint site navigation! This fix snuck in and I completely missed it. Use them to create a TOC for long pages or cross link between pages. They work in text or quick links web parts & nav too! https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-and-use-modern-pages-on-a-sharepoint-site-b3d46deb-27a6-4b1e-87b8-df851e503dec#bkmk_pageanchors
