SharePoint Classic or Modern Experiences | Should I Stay, or Should I Go Now?

The Clash’s song stands the test of time for many reasons. This age-old question follows us in all walks of life, from relationships to SharePoint. Here at PixelMill, we’re all about constant improvement. We thrive on finding unique ways to embrace new opportunities and Microsoft has certainly given us a lot to look forward to in 2018. We know change is often met with both excitement and hesitation and that’s where PixelMill wants to help ease your mind. Our President, Eric Overfield is a Microsoft MVP & Regional Director giving him inside access to Microsoft’s future plans. What does this mean for you? While he can’t always disclose the inside info, he ensures PixelMill’s roadmap is in line with where Microsoft not only says to go but where it’s headed itself.
“If I go, there will be trouble, and if I stay it will be double.”
Okay, that might be a little dramatic, but the Clash isn’t wrong. We understand that there are limitations to the Modern Experience that might make it challenging for your organization to fully embrace it from the start, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared to go there in the future.
PixelMill thinks Modern first, always. If there isn’t a way to properly address your business needs with Modern Experiences, then we’ll find a way in Classic that not only matches your unique needs but prepares you in a future-ready way to upgrade when the time comes.
Is Classic going away? The answer is not anytime soon, and there are many cases where the best option is still Classic. That being said, Microsoft is clearly investing their time and energy in Modern Experiences. So, if you asked us which direction you should head, we’d be crazy not to say with Microsoft. We’ve always believed in working, planning, designing, and developing in a way that embraces what makes SharePoint effective, and this is no different.
“This indecision’s buggin me”
Unsure which path is right for you? Check out this handy infographic that walks you through the opportunities and limitations that Classic and Modern Experiences bring to the table for your organization.
“Exactly whom I’m supposed to be”
The reality is, there aren’t only two options here (Classic or Modern), and that’s where PixelMill is ready to help! Whether you’re taking the road less traveled (Modern), sticking with Classic, or would like to find a happy balance of the two, our team of SharePoint experts would love to help guide you on your journey. Anyone who has 'attended' a physical meeting by 'conferencing in' in knows the frustrations & limitations that come from not being in the room. You're the voice in the ceiling & not equally represented in the conversation.

This is no longer acceptable.

Today, we find ourselves facing the “hybrid work paradox.”

Employees are keen to retain flexibility. At the same time, human-to-human collaboration remains important.

To marry the best of both, hone your strategy, spaces, & tech to suit employee needs.

It's the day of the show, y'all!

Join the #PixelMillWebinars this morning at 11am PST for a live panel discussion about what the #digitalworkspace looks like for a #hybrid team, & how #Microsoft365 can empower your users no matter where they're working.

Join the #PixelMillWebinars this Thursday as we welcome key players from @OrchestrySoft, @KieferConsult, and @AP_Mortgage to discuss the hybrid work paradox and how #Microsoft365 can empower your users no matter where they're working.

We've all been itching to get "back to normal," but what does that mean? Are we missing out on valuable lessons learned by trying to return to something that perhaps wasn't working before?

Join us next week for a live panel discussion on the new normal.
