Webinar | Site Designs and Site Scripts, Templating for Modern Super Heroes

According to my 23andMe report, I’m 36.9% Irish. It also says I’m 1.1% unassigned so if anyone needs an alien friend, ⟟⋔ ⊬⍜⎍⍀ ⊑⎍☊☍⌰⟒⏚⟒⍀⍀⊬. Add to my genetic composition an avid love of Guinness and the color green, one could make an educated guess that I am a fan of March. And yes I know what St. Patrick’s Day is historically about, so all you fact hounds out there can take a breather and just go along for the ride for a minute. March is also often associated with a time of finality, also known as the Ides of March. Julius Cesar was warned by a soothsayer to stay home during this time because his life was in danger. If only someone could have saved guy. Speaking of which, I have a gripe with the month of green: other than St. Patrick himself, there are no superheroes who really wave the Irish flag. (To our more comic book inclined readers, yes, I did my research and I know there are Irish born or Irish descendant caped crusaders. Let’s debate over some corned beef?). March needs a hero. Oddly enough, most people feel that way about SharePoint sometimes. Well jumpin’ jelly beans, Batman! I think we know a guy…
It’s time for the next episode of the PixelMill Webinar Series! In this month’s session “Site Designs and Site Scripts, Templating for Modern Super Heroes”, we welcome back Super PixelFriend Ryan Schouten (@ShrPntKnight) – Microsoft MVP, Senior SharePoint Architect at ZAACT, and tic-tac-toe enthusiast – to introduce us to the marvelous world of Site Design and Site Scripts. When people in your organization create new SharePoint sites, you often need to ensure some level of consistency. Enter you – the newest SharePoint superhero. Think of this as a utility belt upgrade. Your bat-o-rang just got sharper and faster. Your lasso of truth just got more truthier.  By the time Ryan is done, you’ll be able to use site designs and site scripts to provide custom configurations to apply when new sites are created. In other words, you’ll all be #ShoutinforSchouten!
Why You Should Attend
Besides the fact that webinars are an excellent way to engage with fellow community members and industry thought leaders, this is a chance to learn about a relatively new tool for SharePoint developers. One of the big problems with creating sites has been ensuring that the needed artifacts and assets exist in the site. Also making sure sites had consistent theming was very challenging to automate. Creating templates for different site types is a common request and let’s be honest: the old ‘save site as template’ is full of problems. With the addition of modern sites, we have not had an out of the box way of using templates. Microsoft did a pretty good job of presenting this functionality at Ignite last year.
We will discuss how you can use site designs and site scripts to provide custom configurations to apply when new sites are created, as well as learn to use site designs and site scripts to automate provisioning of new or existing modern SharePoint sites using your own custom configurations.
While this session is geared towards those with a basic understanding of SharePoint development, we encourage newcomers to dive right in and learn how to build sites effectively with some shiny new tools. And don’t worry–while this session is an hour long, it includes a 15-minute Q&A from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM PST.
Bottom line, join us on March 22nd at 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM PST. If you have questions now that you want to make sure Ryan gets to, send them here.

Anyone who has 'attended' a physical meeting by 'conferencing in' in knows the frustrations & limitations that come from not being in the room. You're the voice in the ceiling & not equally represented in the conversation.

This is no longer acceptable.

Today, we find ourselves facing the “hybrid work paradox.”

Employees are keen to retain flexibility. At the same time, human-to-human collaboration remains important.

To marry the best of both, hone your strategy, spaces, & tech to suit employee needs.

It's the day of the show, y'all!

Join the #PixelMillWebinars this morning at 11am PST for a live panel discussion about what the #digitalworkspace looks like for a #hybrid team, & how #Microsoft365 can empower your users no matter where they're working.

Join the #PixelMillWebinars this Thursday as we welcome key players from @OrchestrySoft, @KieferConsult, and @AP_Mortgage to discuss the hybrid work paradox and how #Microsoft365 can empower your users no matter where they're working.

We've all been itching to get "back to normal," but what does that mean? Are we missing out on valuable lessons learned by trying to return to something that perhaps wasn't working before?

Join us next week for a live panel discussion on the new normal.
